Bloody cold and windy the day I went, so the birding wasn't phenomenal, but otherwise this was a cool little place. Don't miss out on walking the trails alongside the exposed escarpment... The rock formations bring to mind a miniature version of the Wisconsin River dells. Lovely! Unfortunately a number of people have left bottles and other refuse lying around. We picked up some of it but there's plenty more to retrieve.
A fantastic place... just far enough out of the city for a getaway! As a tent camper, I appreciate the separateness from the mobile campers. By far, the best sites are "N or O", as long as there aren't group sites being used. They're set off from the larger section of sites, offering more privacy. The facilities are kept clean and the staffers are friendly.
The sand isn't the reason to come but the view definitely is. Plus all the walking trails everywhere- absolutely gorgeous. They also have a pretty spectacular park for kids to play in (swings/large pirate ship/slides) Would be a great place to hold any little event at. Frequent visitor
Nice sites with fire pit & picnic table. Bathrooms are pit toilets but very clean. Sites are a good distance apart from each other. Only downside is 1 of the loops (West Loop site # 1 -48) are 20 amps only. So if you want to run you’re A/C and your microwave that’s not happening. The East loop was recently upgraded to 50 amps which is nice. This Fall the park will be upgrading the West Loop to 30 amp with completion expected the Spring of 2018. Park has a large playground with a huge gazebo & picnic area.
This is an awesome park and campground. Your kids will love the playground. The sites are gorgeous, spacious and almost all are in the woods. It is well groomed and the bathroom facilites are well kept and clean. I've stopped here for years on my way to Door County and to stay a few days for Packer training camp. I'm not sure why one of the reviews said it was noisy, might have been just a couple of noisy campers when they were there. I've never had anything close to problems with noise as it is very peaceful there....to a point where it's too quiet. The rates are very reasonable compared to private campgrounds. Try it out, it might become a family tradition!
